I have been doing animal designs for character design class these past two weeks. Here are some:

Heroes & Villains

For this project in Ryan's character design class we had to turn in four drawings: Two heroes and two villains. One of each had to be stereotypical and the others, non-stereotypical.

Self Caricatures

For our fourth project in Ryan's character design class we had to character ourselves in a variety of different expressions. We had to include happy, sad, frightened, psycho, and confused. I also drew one without expression for a starting reference. Whadaya think?

Everyone in class referred to the last one as "the gay one." I was going for "confused." I guess "sexually confused" still  counts. Right?

Caricatures

 For our fourth project in character design we had to caricature celebrities. I went a little more obscure than Ryan wanted us to but I think most of the class recognized who I was drawing. Can you tell? If not, then I screwed up. I think I definitely could have done better on the first image here. I might post a revision sometime.

 

 

Second Project for Character Design Class

For this project we were to sketch clouds, trees, and rocks, for the purpose of learning the natural design flow found in nature. We were then supposed to take the natural design elements found in each of those things and incorporate them into two character designs of our own. I was looking at the curves of  bonsai trees and I kept visualizing serpents. So I drew a snake. With this drawing however, I failed to incorporate the elements of nature to the degree Ryan wanted to see them displayed in this project.

This guy is a pebble-businessman. He is about to miss his bus.

First Assignment for Character Design Class!

This semester I am enrolled in the great Ryan Woodward's character design class.

For our first assignment we were to design characters based on the provided photo references. Everyone had to use the same refs but each person's came out different.
